MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin gained more than 24,000 jobs from March 2012 to March of this year.

That’s according to the latest jobs numbers released by Gov. Scott Walker’s administration. Walker promised during his 2010 election campaign to create 250,000 jobs in four years.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in June that the state gained 62,000 private-sector jobs during the first two years of Walker’s term.

Department of Workforce Development Secretary Reggie Newson said in a statement Thursday that the latest figures show the state is gaining momentum in job creation. It gained 24,124 private-sector jobs from March 2012 to March 2013.

The data is based on a census of 96 percent of Wisconsin businesses, which Walker’s administration has been releasing before it’s published by the BLS.
