Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that on Monday, Oct. 7, at approximately 4:35 a.m. the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a retail theft incident at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located in the Township of Bridgeport. Deputies responded to Wal-Mart and located the suspect; Ethen Gebhard, 19, of Woodman. Gebhard was taken into custody and transported to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office says as the investigation progressed, it was determined that Gebhard had stolen merchandise on several different occasions from Wal-Mart stores including the Wal-Mart in Viroqua and Wal-Mart in Richland Center. According to investigators Gebhard is suspected of stealing approximately $7000.00 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart in Prairie du Chien alone. Gebhard has been charged with felony theft of removable property.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office goes on to say the investigation has revealed that several other individuals residing in Grant County have been involved in stealing merchandise from the Wal-Mart stores along with Gebhard. The names of the other individuals involved are being withheld at this time pending further investigation and because some involved are juveniles. The other individuals involved are facing charges related to retail theft.
The case remains under investigation.
